The big advantage of this lock with a recess for a profile cylinder is that you can use identical locking profile cylinder locks for both your existing main locks and additional locks, so that you only need one key. A mortise side lock is used as additional security on flush wood front and back doors, which are used throughout residential construction. For example, mortise side locks are used in single-family homes, but also in shared homes such as student houses or apartment complexes. A mortise lock is characterized by the fact that, in contrast to a lay-on additional lock, it is recessed into the door. You can choose between straight or round corners for the front plate. After installation, the door can be locked on both the inside and the outside, so you don't have to worry about being locked out.
